Calendar

General → Calendar… opens a single window with a calendar that marks the days holding tasks from every registered .lnt board. Next to it, the Of the day list (tasks for the selected day) and the Pending list; the daily note button (Today's note, or the selected date) opens or creates the note for that day. Clicking a task opens the corresponding board.

In the grid, each day with tasks gets colored dots in the colors of the Kanban statuses (up to three), today is marked with a ring and the selected day with a filled circle; Today returns to the current month, and the month name opens a menu to jump by month or year. Pending items are grouped by situation — Overdue, Today, Next 7 days, Later and No date —, with the due date shown as a relative badge (“yesterday”, “today”, “3 days ago”). Double-clicking a day opens the quick task already dated. With the daily word goal on, the Of the day header says how many words you wrote that day and, when the goal in force that day was reached, goal met.

Tasks written in notes show up here. A - [ ] checkbox in a note is a task like any other, and it now appears under Pending next to the board cards, in the same groups. If the line says when (tomorrow, friday, 2026-08-12), it lands in the right group and on the right day. A double click opens the note at the line of the checkbox — the note stays the place where you edit the task. The scan runs in the background: the window opens right away with the boards, and the note tasks arrive shortly after. On the grid, a day that already has a daily note gets a small hollow circle at the top, and that note is the first item of the day list. The list also shows On this day: your notes from earlier years written on that date. A dated task from a note also marks its day with a gray dot, and a + after the dots means the day has more than three items. Events written in a ```calendar fence in a note — the month and the dated week — come in too: they show in Of the day with the time in front, mark the day on the grid, and a double-click opens the note at the fence. The day list also answers what did I do that day?: a note that declares the date (date:, data: or created: in the frontmatter, or the date at the start of the file name) shows as About this day, and one edited that day as Edited on this day: every save made in LightNote in the last 90 days counts (the local history), plus each file's last modification. A checkbox inside a code block is left out, since it is an example, and so are those in the templates and prompts folders, which are patterns.

In the status bar, next to the memory indicator, the calendar icon shows how many tasks need attention now — overdue ones plus today's, from every workspace, boards and notes — with a red dot when something is overdue and an amber one when there are only today's; the tooltip spells out the numbers. Clicking it opens a small month calendar with the same dots as the big window; clicking a day opens its daily note — if the day has no note yet, the panel offers Create and See in the Calendar, so a curious click does not leave an empty note on disk — and Open the Calendar opens the window. The count updates by itself when you save a file, when the day changes and every few minutes. To hide it, uncheck Tasks in the status bar in Settings → Features.
